All BPS schools are NCA accredited.
Nine schools won national recognition from the Character Education Partnership with two schools (Birmingham Covington School and Greenfield Elementary ) recognized as National School of Character award winning schools and eight schools receiving Promising Practice awards. For the 2009-2010 school year, three schools have been named Michigan School of Character winners - Beverly Elementary, Bingham Farms Elementary and Derby Middle School.
The BPS Early Childhood Center is accredited under the rigorous new standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Staff members continue to expand their use of wikis (collaborative web sites), blogs, podcasting and Moodle (open-source classroom management software) as educational technology tools.
Students continue active community service involvement through participation in Habitat for Humanity, blood drives, food collection, building community playgrounds, assisting senior citizens and more.
Student athletes excel both individually and as teams in a variety of sports such as golf, swimming, hockey, tennis, wrestling, football, basketball, competitive dance and more.
Activities promoting diversity awareness and respect include peace walks, school partnerships, multicultural retreats, diversity awareness workshops and more.
