Birmingham Public Schools serves more than 8,100 Preschool-Grade 12 students in:
Birmingham
*  
Beverly Hills
Bingham Farms
*  Franklin
*  And parts of five other suburban 
   communities north of Detroit, Michigan.

The district and all its schools are accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. There are 13 schools:
*  Eight elementary
*  Two middle schools
*  Two high schools (and an alternative 
    high school program)
*  A
unique districtwide school with a science and technology emphasis for grades 3-8.

Additional facilities include a 10-acre environmental center (an integral part of the science program), the Lincoln Street Alternative, an early childhood center, a center for senior citizen programs and services, and a corporate training and conference center.

Curriculum at all levels stresses the basics while offering enrichment programs, advanced placement courses, integrated instructional technology, engineering design and technology, several modern languages including Chinese and Japanese, and experiences in school/business partnerships, cultural diversity, independent study and community services. Guidance and counseling services are available at all grade levels.

BPS also offers a comprehensive array of interscholastic and intramural sports, career and vocational education, vocal and instrumental music, special education, learning support services, half-day preschools, all-day preschool and child care, half-day kindergarten enrichment programs, before and after-school care, and extensive local and districtwide community education programs.

Birmingham Public Schools enjoys a reputation for excellence which is substantiated by consistently high scores on state and national standardized tests and other measures of achievement.

The district is guided by a strategic planning process. The plan for 2008-2012, was developed with the help of staff and student representatives and community volunteers.  Our mission is "Birmingham Public Schools....
