Beverly Podcasts

Beverly began podcasting in March of 2006.  Many of our podcasts are tied to the curriculum.

In addition, our fourth graders have the option of participating in a Podcasting Club in the Media Center on a rotating basis during lunch.  Podcasting Club lets kids direct their own projects and develop more independence.  If you would like to be part of the fourth grade Podcasting Club, please sign and return this permission slip.

Listen to our podcasts on the Media Center blog.

Want to Make Your Own Podcast? We Use ...

  • Audacity software (free!) to make and edit most  podcasts.  Download Audacity (and the LAME converter needed to turn Audacity work files into mp3 files) here.  Download instructions for using Audacity here
  • Sometimes, we go "on location" and use a video iPod with a Belkin Tunetalk attachment.  Then we download the files and edit them with Audacity.
  • We use inexpensive combination headphone/microphones by Avid.

Spring 2006 podcasting projects are archived below.

What is a podcast?
A podcast is an audio recording that is posted to the web.  If you like what you hear here, you can save it to your desktop and listen to it there.  Once it is saved to your computer, you can use iTunes or other software to upload it to your iPod or mp3 player.

How?
To save to your desktop using a Mac, click and hold your mouse over the link until a small menu comes up.  Select "Save Link As," then navigate to a location where you want to save it.

To save to your desktop using a PC, right-click on the link and select "Save Target As."  Navigate to where you want to save the file.

Now open iTunes (or the software you use to upload tracks to your mp3 player).  Follow your software's instructions (For iTunes, go to File > Import) to add the file to your software.  Then upload it to your iPod or mp3 player.

What about RSS feeds? Can I subscribe to Beverly podcasts?
Not yet.  But let us know if you'd like us to set this up!
