  • Quarter IV Choice Hour Selection Sheets - Due March 19

    Quarter IV Choice Hour Selection Sheets are now available. Selection Sheets are due in the BCS Office by Monday, March 19 at 4pm. Quarter IV begins Monday, April 16. Students who have not turned in a Selection Sheet will need to be picked up at 3:20pm. Change Forms will be available on Friday, April 20. Change Forms are due back on Thursday, April 26 by 4pm. 
     - Revisions were made 3/13/18 to both the 3/4 and 7/8 Booklets.

  • 2018-2019 Elective Information Packets

    For current 4-7 grade parents and guardians (next year 5-8), our 2018-19 Elective Packet Information is posted.  Please review carefully the information with your student in making an elective selection for next year, and click on the link on the last page of the packet to make the elective selection by submitting the online form by Wednesday, April 11.  Paper copies of the packets are available in the main office if you need one.

  • Outdoor Recess in the Wet Weather

    Now that the Spring weather is settling in (mostly), please remember to send coats, boots, snow pants and maybe extra socks to school with your children. We will go outside for recess every day unless the temperature (real or real-feel) is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Yearbooks Are On Sale - NEW Deadline May 15, 2018

  • Optional 7/8 Band/Orchestra and Spanish Trip to Chicago

    7/8 students will have the opportunity to go to Chicago April 27 – 28, 2018 for either a Spanish exposure trip or a band/orchestra enrichment trip. There is a wait list for the Spanish trip but there are still openings for the band/orchestra trip. Click Chicago Registration for additional trip information and registration instructions.

  • Saturday School @ Berkshire

    In partnership with the Birmingham African American Family Network, Birmingham Public Schools provides tutoring for students who need help in any grade level, and in any academic area. It is hosted in the media center at Berkshire Middle School from 9am - 11am. All K-12 BPS student and parents are welcome to join. 
    Saturday School sessions for the 2017-18 school year:
    March: 3, 10, 17, 24
    April: 14, 21, 28
    May: 5, 12, 19

  • BCS Movie Nights

    This year with our theme of empathy and our community read, Save Me a Seat, our BCS Diversity Committee will be hosting monthly Movie Nights on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 PM in the BCS media center based on our theme.  Parents and students, feel free to dress comfortably (PJs allowed) and bring a blanket or sleeping bag for extra comfort. Be sure to save the dates for this fun, monthly, family event!

    • March 15 – The BFG PG (empathy habit practicing kindness)
    • April 19 – Freaky Friday PG (empathy habit thinking “us” not “them”)
    • May 17 – Zootopia PG (empathy habit is sticking your neck out)

  • Welcome to Birmingham Covington School

    The Birmingham Covington Districtwide 3-8 School (BCS) is a 3-8 districtwide school of choice for families residing in the Birmingham Public School District. It is designed to offer a clear choice in educational structure and philosophy to parents/guardians and children seeking a rigorous academic challenge. BCS has a special emphasis on comprehensive science and technology instruction based on the Association for the Advancement of Science report, Project 2061, and enGauge: 21st Century Skills.
