  • BCS MOVIE NIGHTS

    This year with our theme of empathy and our community read, Save Me a Seat, our BCS Diversity Committee will be hosting monthly Movie Nights on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 PM in the BCS media center based on our theme.  Parents and students, feel free to dress comfortably (PJs allowed) and bring a blanket or sleeping bag for extra comfort.  October’s Movie Night is set (see below) and more details and movie titles for the other months will be forthcoming.  Be sure to save the dates for this fun, monthly, family event!

  • Quarter II Choice Hours begin Wednesday, November 8th. Choice Hour Selection Sheets Were Due October 9th by 4pm. Students who have not turned in a Selection Sheet will need to be picked up at 3:20pm.

  • ANNOUNCING THE 2017-18 BCS THEATER PRODUCTION: “ONCE UPON A MATTRESS”

    Parent Meeting: Tuesday, October 17 at 6pm in the Media Center.

    If you thought you knew the story of ‘The Princess and The Pea,’ you may be in for a walloping surprise! Chances are, you’ll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again!

    Students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to audition! All information will be available online and in the office on Tuesday, October 3rd (including audition packets). Auditions for cast AND crew are on Monday, October 16th from 4:10-7:00pm with callbacks on Wednesday, October 18th. Students must turn in an audition permission slip form (located in the office) and pay the pay-to-participate fee PRIOR to auditions (deadline is Monday, October 9th). The Play Production runs during Quarter II with show dates of January 24-26, 2018. Choice Hour is Tuesday/Thursday with additional rehearsals after school.   • Optional 7/8 Band/Orchestra and Spanish Trip to Chicago

    7/8 students will have the opportunity to go to Chicago April 27 – 28, 2018.  Students will be able to choose either the Spanish exposure trip or the band/orchestra enrichment trip.  Please click Chicago for more details.  There will be an information meeting on Wednesday, November 1, 6:00pm in the Media Center.  Online registration will open on Friday, November 3 at 6:00am.

  • Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences

    Be sure to plan ahead so you don’t miss PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES – Thanksgiving 2017!  On Monday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 21, BCS and all elementary schools in the district will host parent-teacher conferences. That said, Thanksgiving is also the same week. Unfortunately, teachers will not be able to accommodate rescheduled conferences due to early vacations, so please plan to attend your child’s conference on Monday or Tuesday during the 1:00-4:00 PM or 5:00-8:00 PM time frames. Specific information and links to sign up for conferences will be shared on Monday, October 30.

  • 2017-18 PTA REFLECTIONS ART AWARD PROGRAM - Unleash Your Inner Artist

    Reflect on the theme, WITHIN REACH, and create original art in the categories of dance, film production, literature, music, photography and visual arts. Enter to win recognition, prizes, and scholarships.  The top 2 BCS entries from each category will go on to the BPS District Program and possibly State and/or National recognition. Participants will be recognized/awarded at the BCS Reflections Pizza Lunch. More information may be found on the PTSA Reflections Page for more information. Submit entries in the Media Center through Friday, November 10th.

  • Welcome to Birmingham Covington School

    The Birmingham Covington Districtwide 3-8 School (BCS) is a 3-8 districtwide school of choice for families residing in the Birmingham Public School District. It is designed to offer a clear choice in educational structure and philosophy to parents/guardians and children seeking a rigorous academic challenge. BCS has a special emphasis on comprehensive science and technology instruction based on the Association for the Advancement of Science report, Project 2061, and enGauge: 21st Century Skills.
