  • Optional 7/8 Spanish Trip To Chicago

    If your child would like to attend the optional Chicago Spanish trip May 1-2, 2020, please click Chicago Spanish Trip Registration for information and registration directions.   • Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • 8th Grade High School Visit November 25

    8th Grade students will be visiting Groves High School on November 25 from 11:45 am - 2:45 pm. Although the visits are not mandatory, they provide a great opportunity to become familiar with the building, staff, and programs at both high schools.
    Please have your child return the attached permission slip to the BCS main office by Friday November 22 at 9 am if they would like to attend this optional trip. Seaholm High School will host a similar evening event in January, so be on the lookout for more information in December.

  • Outdoor Recess in the Wet/Cold Weather

    Now that the Fall/Winter weather is settling in, please remember to send boots, snow pants and maybe extra socks to school with your children. We will go outside for recess every day, weather permitting.

  • Saturday School @ Berkshire

    In partnership with the Birmingham African American Family Network, Birmingham Public Schools provides tutoring for students who need help in any grade level, and in any academic area. It is hosted in the media center at Berkshire Middle School from 9am - 11am from October to May. All K-12 BPS student and parents are welcome to join. For more information and the dates, see their website @:

  • Lost and Found

    We have a large number of items that have been forgotten, so PLEASE SET ASIDE A FEW MINUTES to look through the items.  It is always very helpful if a child’s name is labeled on possessions, including clothing.  All clothing and items will be donated to the charity bin in the parking lot on Friday, Nov. 22.

    Open House Parents, students and community members are invited to explore our unique educational community with an emphasis on science, technology and 21st century learning skills. This is also a great opportunity to meet BCS students, staff members and current parents.   • 2020-2021 District Calendar Update

    The 2020-21 BPS school year calendar is now available on the BPS District website at This coming fall, we will have a pre-Labor Day start, with the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 31 as a half day. This change allows for the last day of school to be June 11, 2021 while maintaining our standard break schedules and fulfilling our State seat time and professional development obligations.

    The Birmingham Covington Districtwide 3-8 School (BCS) is a 3-8 districtwide school of choice for families residing in the Birmingham Public School District. It is designed to offer a clear choice in educational structure and philosophy to parents/guardians and children seeking a rigorous academic challenge. BCS has a special emphasis on comprehensive science and technology instruction based on the Association for the Advancement of Science report, Project 2061, and enGauge: 21st Century Skills.
