Bingham Farms Elementary

Inspiring all learners to positively impact their world.

Principal's Note

  •

    Dear Bingham families,

This week we spent time reflecting on the life and message of Dr. Martin Luther King.    For many of our children, hearing about the struggles and discrimination of the earlier era is quite shocking.  I was in a 1st grade class observing this week as children listened to a story about Dr. King’s life, as they heard the message about children of all races going to school together, the students looked around at the class diversity and acceptance and did not understand how this could not have always been the case.   We used our silent march to provide reflection time about how each of us has the power and the obligation to make the world a better place.  Children shared their personal dreams and we are committed to supporting them in achieving their dreams.  We emphasized this is not something we speak of only once per year but rather be who we are every single day.  We will continue to emphasize our school values of diversity, inclusion, acceptance and peaceful interactions every day.

Enjoy your wintery weekend, hope there is plenty of snowman building and hot chocolate.

    Debbie
