Mallory Soffin

My name is Mallory Soffin, and I am in my eighth year as THE social studies teacher at Lincoln Street. My favorite classes to teach are U.S. History, Government, Native American Studies, and Senior Seminar. My favorite part of my job is interacting with my students, which is why naturally I enjoy integrating service learning projects into my curriculum. I am currently apart of the TECIP (emergency response) team, and coordinate our relations with the ESL and Annex (adult transition program) students, which in turn helps boost the culture and climate at Lincoln Street.

I have been a member of Michigan Alternative Education Organization (MAEO) for eight years, and have been a board member for seven. I have been running the STARS program for seven years; STARS is the student branch of MAEO, and holds three annual events; Fall Leadership Conference, Legislative Day, and the Spring Career and College Competition (which is held on a college campus). I enjoy taking Lincoln Street students to all three events!

I was born and raised in Oak Park, MI, and graduated from Berkley High School. I earned my Bachelor's of Science from Grand Valley State University. I love spending time with my animals; I have a cat named Clark and two dogs named Robin and Bruce. I enjoy gardening, traveling, reading, and watching detective shows.
