Mock Trial

  • Description: Mock Trial is a student-directed role-play courtroom competition against other schools in Michigan. Students receive a set of facts, a statement of law, witness statements, and exhibits. From this, students must develop a case theory, opening statements, questions, and closing arguments. Students work in teams to prepare their mock trial cases and participate in the Michigan High School Mock Trial Tournament (which takes place in March). The competition is held in an actual courtroom and is adjudicated by actual judges and attorneys. Students (at any grade level) with an interest in the law, debate, public speaking, or theater are strongly encouraged to learn more by checking out one of our meetings in the fall.
