Enrollment Requirements and Information

  • Enrollment is a two-step process.
    New families please complete the online enrollment as indicated below. BPS staff will finalize the enrollment process in person with each individual family. A precise list of requirements is listed at the bottom of this page. All appointments are in person for enrollment and changes of address.

    Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is only open! Registration for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year is coming soon.

    Complete the BPS PowerSchool Registration process.

    Applications for Junior Kindergarten's random-selection process will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 18

    Step 2:
    Email Sylvia Sardy at ssardy@birmingham.k12.mi.us.
    Enrollment appointments take place at the BPS Education & Administration Center located at 31301 Evergreen Rd., Beverly Hills, 48025.

    PLEASE NOTE: Students cannot start school until all steps of the enrollment process have been completed.
    Parent enrolling the child must be on both the residency documents and birth certificate.

PROOF OF PARENTAGE for all incoming students

  • You will need to bring the following documents with you to the appointment. Electronic copies will not be accepted: 

    PROOF OF PARENTAGE for all incoming students:

    • Original Birth Certificate, with official translation if not in English
    • Government Issued Photo ID for both parents, if two are listed on the birth certificate.  The parent enrolling the child must be on the birth certificate.
    • Custody/divorce documents if applicable or notarized parent release letter if second parent on Birth Certificate does not live with the child. (with official translation if not in English)
    • Legal Guardianship or Foster Care placement plan/letter where applicable

PROOF OF RESIDENCY for all incoming students

      Homeowner

      • If you are a HOMEOWNER, you will need the following documents:

        • Officially recorded deed (with Liber Number in the top right corner).  You may go to https://www.oakgov.com/clerkrod/property-and-land/Pages/property-records.aspx to request a copy of your deed. (Please do NOT provide the mortgage, we cannot use it)
        • Most Recent Homestead Property tax Exemption with 100% Primary Residency Expemtion (P.R.E.)
        • 2 different and most current utility bills
        • Car insurance
        • Government photo ID for both parents if two are listed on the birth certificate
        • Immunization records for all new students plus vision screenings for incoming Kindergarten students and all signed permissions should be sent directly to the school office

      Lease your home

      • If you LEASE your home, you will need the following documents:

        • Lease signed by both parties. The parent who is on both the lease and birth certificate must be present to enroll the child.
        • Statement of Landlord, completed and signed - Statement of Landlord found here
        • 2 different and most current utility bills
        • Car insurance
        • Government photo ID for both parents, if two are listed on the birth certificate
        • Immunization records for all new students plus vision screenings for incoming Kindergarten students and all signed permissions should be sent directly to the school office

      Living With a BPS Resident

      • PLEASE NOTE: BPS Resident and Parent must come together.
        If you are LIVING WITH a resident of BPS, you will need the following documents:

        Items required from the BPS RESIDENT:

        • If the resident is a HOMEOWNER:
          • Officially recorded deed (with Liber Number in the top right corner). You may go to https://www.oakgov.com/clerkrod/property-and-land/Pages/property-records.aspx to request a copy of your deed. (Please do NOT provide the mortgage, we cannot use it)
          • Homestead property taxes with 100% Primary Residency Exemption (P.R.E.)
          • 2 different and current utility bills
          • Car insurance
          • Government photo ID for both parents if two are listed on the birth certificate
        • If the resident is RENTER:
          • Lease signed by both parties. The parent who is on both the lease and birth certificate must be present to enroll the child.
          • Statement of Landlord, completed and signed - Statement of Landlord
          • 2 different and current utility bills
          • Car insurance
          • Government photo ID for both parents, if two are listed on the birth certificate

        Items required from the PARENT:

        • 3 valid pieces of mail with address and name, i.e. hospital or doctor bills, pay stubs, cell phone
        • Car insurance
        • Government photo ID for both parents, if two are listed on the birth certificate
        • Original Birth Certificate, with official translation if not in English
        • Custody/divorce documents if applicable or notarized parent release letter if second parent does not live in the same household. With official translation if not in English.
        • Legal Guardianship or Foster Care placement plan/letter where applicable
        • Immunization records for all new students plus vision screenings for incoming Kindergarten students and all signed permissions should be sent directly to the school office

      Guardianship & Fostercare

      • GUARDIANSHIP

        • Residency: Refer to Homeowner, Lease or Living With as appropriate.
        • Parentage:
          • Original Birth Certificate, with official translation if not in English
          • Original legal document
          • Government photo ID
          • Immunization records for all new students plus vision screenings for incoming Kindergarten students and all signed permissions should be sent directly to the school office

        FOSTER CARE

        • Residency: Refer to Homeowner, Lease or Living With as appropriate.
          • Original Foster Care Placement letter from case worker (must have name of foster care family)
          • Original Birth Certificate with official translation if not in English. If it is not available, please let us know.
          • Immunization records for all new students plus vision screenings for incoming Kindergarten students and all signed permissions should be sent directly to the school office
