  • Outdoor Recess in the Wet Weather

    Now that the Spring weather is settling in, please remember to send boots and maybe extra socks to school with your children. We will go outside for recess every day, weather permitting.

  • State M-STEP Testing Begins April 9

    Check out the BCS M-STEP Schedule 2019.  The testing window for grades 3, 4, 6, 7 continues thru May 10, see the BCS M-STEP schedule.  Below are subject areas tested for the different grade levels:

    • English Language arts (grades 3–7)
    • Mathematics (grades 3–7)
    • Science Field Test (grades 5 and 8)
    • Social Studies (grades 5 and 8)

  • School Supplies 2019-20


    BCS PTA has once again partnered up with 1st Day School Supplies to provide you the exact school supplies you need for next year.  All you have to do is click the link to purchase supplies for next year and you’re done!  The order deadline is June 30th. Supplies ordered will be available for pick up during "Back to School Days' in August.
    *You do NOT need to order your supplies using the link.  This is an optional convenience we are providing to our BCS families. Please feel free to buy your supplies using the list provided on the BCS website.

  • Saturday School @ Berkshire

    In partnership with the Birmingham African American Family Network, Birmingham Public Schools provides tutoring for students who need help in any grade level, and in any academic area. It is hosted in the media center at Berkshire Middle School from 9am - 11am. All K-12 BPS student and parents are welcome to join. For more information see their website @:

    We have a large number of items that have been forgotten, so PLEASE SET ASIDE A FEW MINUTES to look through the items.  It is always very helpful if a child’s name is labeled on possessions, including clothing.

  • Welcome to Birmingham Covington School

    The Birmingham Covington Districtwide 3-8 School (BCS) is a 3-8 districtwide school of choice for families residing in the Birmingham Public School District. It is designed to offer a clear choice in educational structure and philosophy to parents/guardians and children seeking a rigorous academic challenge. BCS has a special emphasis on comprehensive science and technology instruction based on the Association for the Advancement of Science report, Project 2061, and enGauge: 21st Century Skills.
