Welcome to 4^th Grade!  We are located in Room 13.

I am Mr. Zabawa.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Reading and Language Arts instruction both from Oakland University.  I have been teaching in the Birmingham Public School District for 31 years.  Yep, 31 years.  I have taught every grade level 1^st-5^th.  I've taught at Midvale, Greenfield and Bingham Farms.

Personally I have been married to my beautiful wife, Andrea, for 27 years.  We have 3 boys.  Noah lives in Boston and works in sales for a software company, Dawson is a junior at Western Michigan and Brady is a junior at Lakeland High School.  We are a huge sports family.  We love cheering for and going to the University of Michigan football games as well as softball, basketball and baseball.  We love going for nightly walks with our 2 golden retrievers, Jersey and Ziggy.  When I’m not teaching I love to bike ride, read, watch my sons play sports and watch just about every sport imaginable.

Professionally I have a passion for teaching reading, math and science and hope to pass on a passion for learning and discovery to my students.  I always have a positive growth mindset and hope to pass that positivity onto my students, as well.  If you ever have a question please don’t hesitate to email me.
