Ms. Laura Tinsley - Principal of Early Learning
Laura Tinsley is the Principal of Early Learning for the Birmingham Public Schools. Laura earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University, a Master's degree from Oakland University in Early Childhood Education and a K-12 Administrative Certificate from Michigan State University. Laura began her career teaching Kindergarten. Prior to becoming director of the ECC, she taught in the 4s program at our center. In addition to supervising staff at the Early Childhood Center, she oversees all early learning programs in our school district. Laura has lived in Beverly Hills with her husband, Bart, since 1994. She is a proud mom of three BPS graduates. She has been active on several district committees such as Education Council, Strategic Planning, BEF Advisory Board as well as PTA, and she and her family are actively involved with the Metro Detroit Youth Clubs. "I am blessed to work with such a dedicated and highly - qualified staff team, and a wonderful, supportive parent community. Together we are building a strong foundation for children's future success. Teaching young children is, by far, the best job in the world!"

Ms. Nicole Slade - Office Manager
Nicole Crawford-Slade is in her sixth year as Office Manager for the Birmingham Early Childhood Center. She has worked at both Wee-Care and the Early Childhood Center for a combination of 9 years between both schools. Ms. Nicole graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Broadcast Production. "I am excited to take on this role. I love that from the front desk I still get to watch the children learn and explore, while helping to ensure that they are in a safe and loving environment."

Ms. Joanne Baker - Floater
Ms. Joanne is in her fourth year working at the Early Childhood Center. She has an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Oakland Community College, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Eastern Michigan University. She also has over 45 years of experience teaching lifeguarding, swimming, first aid and CPR to children and adults. "I love watching a child learn a new skill! They get so excited and want to 'do it again.' Seeing them build on that skill is so rewarding and fulfilling!"

Ms. Veronica Miller - Toddler After Care Floater
Ms. Veronica is in her first year working at the Early Childhood Center. Ms. Veronica is working towards an associates degree in early childhood education from Oakland University. She has been working with children for the last 5 years. "One of the best things is when children are making connections to the environment around them!"
