          Berkshire Ecology Pledge

• I will not buy bottled water and will use a reusable water bottle instead.

•  I will bring reusable shopping bags with me when I go to stores.

• I will reduce food waste by not taking more than I can eat and saving extra for leftovers when possible.

• I will avoid single-serving disposable items when I pack a lunch and will bring reusable utensils, napkins, containers and a lunch bag

•  I will avoid Styrofoam products like leftover containers and disposable drinking cups.  Ask for aluminum foil for restaurant leftovers and reusable drinking cups instead.

• I will recycle when I’m on the go- if recycling bins are not available, I will bring my recyclables home with me instead of throwing them in the trash.

• I will turn the water off while I brush my teeth and wash my hands.

• I will use cold or warm water for washing clothes and will only wash full loads.

•  I will take short showers and will talk to my family about installing low flow water fixtures.

•  I will turn off the lights when I leave a room and will unplug device chargers when not in use.

• I will encourage my family to use energy efficient light bulbs instead of incandescent ones.

• I will reduce, reuse, recycle; conserve energy and water; and refuse Styrofoam and other disposable items.

• I will ask friends and family to take this pledge.
