    Music at BCS

Music is an integral component in the development of the whole child. The sequential practice of music is proven to elevate physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth. Music engages learners in developing self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, creativity and self-motivation. These qualities contribute to a firm foundation for independent learning and leadership.

The musicianship and technical qualities in performing involve creating, recreating and interpreting works in this fine art. The culmination of these skills will develop a lifelong appreciation of music.

    Band & Orchestra

The music experience at BCS begins in the fifth grade. Students may choose to participate in Band or Orchestra. Fifth through eighth grade instrumental music classes meet two days per week. Our program is enhanced by offering Choice Hour band and orchestra selections. Choice Hour offerings include Honors Orchestra, Musical Mentors, Strictly Strings, Band Beats, Band Busters and Open Orchestra. We strongly encourage all students in our instrumental music program to take advantage of these supplemental classes as a way to enhance our students’ musical progress and proficiency.
