• Attention: Groves/Seaholm students 18 and older and parents:

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) department has recently clarified procedures related to students turning 18 during their high school career. A form is available to students and parents related to this topic, which is available in the main office.

The clarified procedures and forms specify that students have the right to view their FERPA information upon turning 18 years old. However, it is important that they also understand that their parents have the same rights to view this information if they are still claimed as a dependent by their parent for federal income tax purposes.

You can learn more about these rights on the district’s website at www.birmingham.k12.mi.us/FERPA
