RX FOR READING BOOK DRIVE
Beverly is joining with other BPS schools in a book drive to benefit Rx for Reading Detroit, a literacy program that works to foster childhood reading for all children. They seek to provide a “book of their own” to all children through dental and health clinics, schools and homeless shelters.
From March 4 through March 22, we are collecting donations of new or gently used children’s books. (Sorry – no adult books, please!) Collection boxes are in the lobby and by the Media Center. Help spread the joy of reading by donating a book for someone else!
ROCK YOUR SOCKS DAY
Thursday, March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day. To show your support and raise awareness, "rock your socks" that day!
It’s easy enough to participate -- just stick your hand in your sock drawer and see what comes out. Bright socks, striped socks, short socks, long socks – you can even wear mismatched socks! When someone asks you , "Why are you wearing those crazy socks?" tell them you are wearing them for someone you know with Down syndrome.
Purpose Statement: A positive learning experience that ensures respect, cooperation and communication where all students become literate, adaptive, creative and contributing members of our society.
