Thank you for your interest in the Board of Education for Birmingham Public Schools. The primary role of the BOE is to oversee the annual budget, set school policies and work in partnership with the superintendent. Feedback and the voices of community members play an integral role in our work. 

The Board desires open and respectful dialogue with the community. Every regular meeting and study session agenda includes an opportunity for public comment. If a community member wishes to address the BOE, please attend the one of the scheduled board meetings and fill out a public comment request card or submit your questions/comments in writing to the Board of Education.

Meetings Procedures

New Board Platform 

Birmingham Public Schools is transitioning Board of Education meeting materials from Board Docs to Diligent. All meetings beginning January 24 will be posted in Diligent. Materials from meetings held prior to that date will remain available in Board Docs during the transition. Over time, all materials will be consolidated into Diligent.

Regular board meetings and study sessions are conducted monthly on Tuesdays. Board meetings commonly begin at 7 p.m. while most study sessions are scheduled at 6 p.m. throughout the year.
