Board of Education

Thank you for your interest in the Board of Education for Birmingham Public Schools. The primary role of the BOE is to oversee the annual budget, set school policies and work in partnership with the superintendent. Feedback and the voices of community members play an integral role in our work.

The Board desires open and respectful dialogue with the community. Every regular meeting and study session agenda includes an opportunity for public comment. If a community member wishes to address the BOE, please attend the one of the scheduled board meetings and fill out a public comment request card or submit your questions/comments in writing to the Board of Education.

Public Comment

The BOE values public meetings, not just meetings in public, and welcomes public comment on school-related matters. Most comments can be concisely stated in three minutes and the Board respectfully request that comments remain focused on the topic or issue, not on specific personnel. Members of the public may submit a request to comment card to participate in public comment.

Regular board meetings and study sessions are conducted monthly on Tuesdays. Board meetings commonly begin at 7 p.m. while most study sessions are scheduled at 6 p.m. throughout the year.

2026 Election

The BOE Election Year 2026 - Birmingham Public School District page is provided as a resource for prospective candidates and community members. Candidates are responsible for complying with all applicable election laws, filing requirements, and deadlines established by the State of Michigan and the appropriate election filing officials.
