Bond 2026

This fiscally responsible proposal supports critical safety enhancements, addresses aging school infrastructure, and expands hands-on learning opportunities that help Birmingham students compete for in-demand jobs without raising the current millage rate.

The Birmingham School Facilities and Safety Improvement Bond Proposal will appear on the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 ballot. If passed, this NO-MILLAGE-RATE INCREASE proposal would help us keep our students safe, dry and warm.

This proposal builds on our proven track record of fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability and keeping our promises to taxpayers.  If passed, this proposal would be subject to public reporting, independent audits and disclosure requirements to help ensure transparency.

Safety & Security Improvements

Keeping students and staff safe comes before everything else.

This funding modernizes the security cameras, alarms, and emergency communication systems across our schools, and adds backup generators so buildings stay up and running during a power outage.

It means every school is better equipped to respond fast and keep families and first responders informed when something goes wrong.

Replacing Aging Infrastructure

Many of our buildings have been in use for decades, and the systems that keep them running are near the end of their working life.

This funding replaces the essentials, from roofs and boilers to worn playground equipment, so students spend their days in buildings that are sound and comfortable. Handling these repairs now protects the district's facilities and avoids the far higher cost of emergency fixes later.

Preparing Students for In-Demand Careers

It has never been more important to help all Birmingham students compete for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow, including in the skilled trades. 

  • Expand career-technical programs to help students compete for good-paying jobs, including in the skilled trades
  • Build on the district's proven track record of providing hands-on, real world learning opportunities from kindergarten through high school
  • Help continue our high graduation rate, which consistently outpaces the state and national rates
  • Support high property values by helping Birmingham stay competitive with nearby districts and schools
