BPS is thrilled to announce the pilot implementation of two sets of high-quality instructional materials for ELA/Literacy instruction within our K-8 classrooms. Certain K-2 classrooms are piloting the "Magnetic Reading Foundations" program, which serves as a foundational skills resource aimed at enhancing phonological awareness, phonics, decoding and sight word recognition for students. In addition, approximately 50% of our K-8 classrooms are engaging with "Wit & Wisdom," a curriculum designed to build core knowledge. For additional information regarding both resources, please refer to the links provided.

Statement: We want our community to know that we are fully aware of the potential challenges that come with transitioning to a new approach in teaching reading. In line with the guidance from the Thomas Fordham Institute, which recognizes both the importance and complexity of implementing the science of reading, we understand that success requires a deep level of expertise and thoughtful execution. We are approaching this shift with care and precision. This has been a deliberate, three-year process, and it will continue to be a key focus for years to come as we ensure our teachers and students have the tools and support they need to succeed.
