Schools Offer Support is a service organization in which parents and students work together to build a stronger community through acts of kindness. SOS has been able to fund and support a vast array of community needs. Some examples are food boxes, gift cards and childcare support for families financially in need, tutoring programs for middle school and elementary students,Thanksgiving dinners to dozens of families in need each year, holiday gifts purchased and wrapped for families in need.

BPS Parent Pride was created to bring together BPS parents who wish to create accepting homes and safe spaces for their children to come out or for their out LGBTQ+ children to be their authentic selves. Parents will learn from the experiences of other parents in the group, offer support and advice, and mentor each other with the shared goal of being LGBTQ+ allies within BPS. The group hopes to create a more inclusive, accepting school district by helping parents to have open minds and hearts, so that BPS students have the support they need in their homes as well as at school. Any parent in the BPS district may attend meetings, regardless of their comfort with LGBTQ+ identities, because the support group is there to educate parents, help them learn LGBTQ+ terms and normalize LGBTQ+ identities.

FODL is an independent, organization of parents/guardians, students, staff and community members working together to enhance the education of our students. FODL meets on the first Thursday of the month during the school year and offers an opportunity to network and share ideas about how to help different learners.

The mission of PAC is to collaborate with the BPS Special Education (SE) Department to promote the development of existing programs and services and advise in the development of new programs and services which optimize academic and functional achievement of students receiving special education support services.

The Latino Family Network was created to connect Latino families within the Birmingham Public Schools to foster educational excellence and equity, improve language fluency (Spanish and Portuguese) and celebrate family traditions and values.
