PEMBROKE: Starbooks claim '25 Battle of the Books crown

Battle of the Books, an annual reading competition that’s sponsored by the Baldwin Public Library for fourth and fifth graders throughout Birmingham Public Schools, challenges students to read six selected books and compete in team-based trivia contests. The friendly competition aims to foster a love of reading while encouraging students to explore literature beyond their comfort zones.

SEAHOLM: Six among MHSAA Scholar-Athlete finalists

Seaholm High School was prominently represented when the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) announced the finalists for the 2024-2025 Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Awards. Of the 120 student athletes listed, a half dozen of them were Maples – more than any other school in the state.

School Age Child Care- Registration

Registration Now Open for BPS School Age Child Care

Registration is now open for Birmingham Public Schools' School Age Child Care (SACC) program for the 2026-2027 school year. Formerly known as Kids Club, SACC provides a safe, engaging environment for students in Junior Kindergarten through fifth grade before and after the school day.

The program operates from 7:00 a.m. until the first school bell each morning and from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. each afternoon. Program highlights include:

Discounted rates for families enrolling for a full week
Pre-approved drop-in care where space is available
Highly qualified staff with ongoing training
Programs that meet or exceed all state licensing requirements
Daily activities including gym time, outdoor play, games, arts and crafts, and other creative opportunities

Families are encouraged to register early, as space may be limited at some locations.
