Bingham Farms is a place to explore your interests and to alwasy practice Being Your Bingham Best! Our students are provided with so many opportunities to engage in subjects that interest them, and to enrich our Bingham Farms community with their passions and talents.
Open to students in grades 4-5 who apply and are accepted, our Student Council at Bingham Farms is a leadership organization moderated by Mrs. Spaniola, Mrs. Salton, and Mr. Johnson, but directed by our Student Council students and their passion for giving back to the community. Bingham Farms looks forward to the annual Student Council Community Service Night (in 2015 it was Blanket Night). In 2015-16, our student council also ran a Sock Drive for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, assisted at our Bingham Family Dinner Night benefitting our BBC program, did research on Community Gardens, and visited the Earthworks Farm in Detroit.
In 2016, Bingham Farms started a Green Team in a big way - it now boasts over 70 members! Open to students in all grades and run on Mondays at lunchtime, we have worked on various Green School initiatives towards our Evergreen School Application. So far we have created habitat for our native animals, hosted a wonderful Earth Day assembly, and started a composting program at Bingham Farms. Our Green Team bulletin board has been a place for our Green Team members to post messages about saving the environment and being great stewards of the earth.
The Eagles' Nest
Our school store, The Eagles' Nest, is a program moderated by Mrs. Pfershy, and run by 5th graders who have applied for various positions within the store. We have store managers, clerks, purchasing and marketing committees, and more! The store operates on most Thursdays and is widely appreciated by our students at Bingham Farms!
Each year, a few 5th graders are chosen to produce our morning news announcements. This select group works all year with iMovie and IntroDesigner to keep our school up to date with the latest happenings!
