Mr. Derek DiGiovanni

Mr. DiGiovanni has been teaching since 1997.  He received his Physical Education degree from the University of Michigan.  He then went on to get his Masters in Educational Leadership from Saginaw State University.  Mr. DiGiovanni was the System Wide Department Head of Physical Education of the district from 2003-2008.  He also served as the President of the statewide association of physical education teachers called Shape Michigan from 2005-2008.  He has coached numerous sports (basketball, swimming, and cross country) in the school district, as well as, coaching his own children’s sports (baseball, soccer, and basketball).  He continues to follow his passion of physical fitness on a daily basis by eating “clean” and working out.  He has finished numerous endurance events such as Ironman Hawaii and the Boston Marathon. 

He is proud to be a Greenfield Gator.  Along with teaching physical education at Greenfield, he produces the Greenfield Gator Morning News, he “runs” the Mileage Club, he leads the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, and he directs the Jump Rope for Heart program.  He enjoys working with each of the students and staff members at Greenfield and hopes that he is motivating each of them to make the best nutrition choices and be active each and every day.
