One Book, One School Information

  • Fortunately, The Milk by Neil Gaimen

West Maple students, staff, and families are ready to embark on a fun reading adventure this summer. We would like everyone to take part in reading this fun tale of dad going to get milk for the breakfast cereal and for his coffee.

This book can be accessed for free using our school Tumble Books account. Tumble Books is an eBook platform that can be used all summer long. Go to this web address: https://www.tumblebooklibrary.com. Our username is Birmingham and the password is Books. Use the search feature to find the title: Fortunately, the Milk and begin reading.

If you would prefer to purchase the book checkout BookBeat in Oak Park, or Books-a-Million in Beverly Hills. The book is also available in libraries, on Amazon and from other book stores.

Over the summer, one question will be posted every week about the story on our One Book, One School blog. You may use these questions to discuss as a family or to consider independently. If you choose, you may post your answers, comments or further questions for discussion. All comments will be approved daily, so you will not see your comment as soon as it is posted.

When we return to school in the fall, this common experience will be used to stimulate community building throughout the building.
