If your student(s) will be absent from school for any reason, please report their absence as soon as possible.
We appreciate your assistance,
The Berkshire Attendance Office

- Absences (A) or tardies (T or TA) not reported will be recorded as unexcused.
In the event of an absence, report the following to: BerkshireAttendance@birmingham.k12.mi.us

- Illness (please state the nature of illness, eg: flu, stomach virus, pink eye, strep, etc.)
- Bereavement
- Religious Holiday
- Vacation

You may attach medical information to this email, or send it in with your student.
-
Extended Absence
An extended absence form is needed if a student will be absent for 4 or more days. The form needs to be signed by each teacher and approved by the Berkshire Principal. Please allow enough time for signatures to be collected. The completed form can be turned into the front office.
-
Arriving Late
It is not necessary to escort your child into the building in the morning when late for school or arriving late from an appointment. Your student can sign themselves in. Please report the reason for your student's late arrival by emailing BerkshireAttendance@birmingham.k12.mi.us.
-
Leaving Early
When signing your student OUT for an appointment or leaving for the day, you will need to come into the building. Due to loss of instructional time and for safety reasons, students will not be allowed to be called down before the adult picking them up arrives at the office. Please give yourself plenty of time to come into the office and have your child called down from their class at that time. If your child has gym or lunch at the time of pick up, additional time will be needed to locate and bring them to the office.
