Green Team Members

  • GREEN TEAM

    Students in grades 3-5 volunteer to serve on Quarton's Green Team. The Green Team collaborates with the school's Community Service Organizer to:

    • Educate the school on environmental issues
    • Support the school's recycling programs
    • Design and implement activities that promote environmental responsibility

     

    The Quarton Green Team is currently working on the Michigan Green School application for the 2022-2023 school year to become a certified Green School.

     

    During the 2022-2023 school year, the Green Team will:

    • Organize whole school recycling initiatives (School supplies, candy wrappers, and community materials)
    • Maintain and continue the paper, plastic and metal recycling program
    • Clean up materials on the playground and in the neighborhood park
    • Have guest speakers to educate team members on environmentally friendly ideas and plans
    • Discuss renewable energy and how our community can utilize it in their daily lives
    • Educate the school by updating the school library to include more books on recycling, composting, and renewable energy
    • Post informative signs around the school to encourage students and staff to recycle 
    • Research and adopt an endangered animal
    • Celebrate Earth Day school wide
    • Create a school garden
