Welcome to Wylie E. Groves High School, Home of the Falcons!
Dear Groves Family,
I want to formally introduce myself and tell you how honored and excited I am to serve as the next principal of Groves. I graduated from Groves (c/o 1998), then Miami University in Ohio, and have worked in the same school district near Cincinnati for 18 years. In that district, I taught English and was an assistant principal both at Colerain High School, and for the past seven years was the principal of Northwest High School. I feel so fortunate to have an opportunity to "return home," and to give back to a community that provided me with so many wonderful experiences as a young adult.
I am eager to get to know as many of you as I can. Building collaborative relationships with students, staff, families and community stakeholders has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for me in this position, as I believe this to be essential for strong schools. I am looking forward to building upon the culture of academic excellence and inclusivity that exist at Groves, and assure you we will continually search for ways to grow as a school community. The social-emotional aspect of school is also very important to me, as I feel one objective of any successful learning space must be to develop young people to be critical thinkers, effective communicators, to collaborate with others, and to utilize creativity in order to prepare students for all aspects of their futures.I very much look forward to working with you.
Go Falcons!
Kindly,
Dr. Susan Smith
