Multilingual Learners from Groves and Seaholm high schools who qualify for ELD support attend such courses at Seaholm High School.
Highlights of the high school ELD program include:- 1:1 Technology - All high school students who participate in ELD 1, ELD 2, and ELD 3 have access to Google Chromebooks to use in class to facilitate individualized learning
- Classroom library - The high school ELD classroom has an extensive library of leveled fiction and non-fiction titles selected specifically for students in the ELD program
- ESL conversation partners - ELs are paired with native English-speaking students to facilitate speaking progress and to build camaraderie
- Thanksgiving celebration - Students share food from their native country with peers prior to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday
- Service-learning field trip - Students plan and participate in a class volunteer project and field trip to benefit a community charitable organization
