Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Geoff Wickersham
I started teaching in 1991 teaching 12th grade English at Troy Athens High School. I worked in private and public school for two more years and then joined High School of Commerce and Business Administration in 1994 - 1997. In February 1997, I joined the staff of Groves High School to teach history and English. I also coached football for two years and have been the founding member of the Groves Powder Puff program since its inception in 2002. In 2004, I won the Michigan Council of History Education's Secondary Teacher of the Year. I have been teaching AP U.S. History since 2010, and I became an AP reader in 2016. In 2017 I was named a Diversity Champion by the Birmingham and Bloomfield Race Relations and Diversity Task Force, and in 2019, I was named a Senior James Madison Fellow. I will finish my 2nd Master's degree in the summer of 2020 in American History and Government with Ashland University in Ashland, OH. In my spare time, I read a lot of history, find new ways to lose in my fantasy football leagues, and train or work with my Golden Retrievers.
