The Early Childhood Center is licensed by the State of Michigan and accredited by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC accreditation is the mark of quality, as programs must demonstrate continuous improvement to provide the best possible educational opportunities for children. Accredited programs must meet NAEYC's 10 Standards of Criteria which are the foundation of the accreditation system, based on research of the development and education of young children. These areas include relationships, curriculum, teaching, assessment, health, families, environment and leadership. Accreditation is earned through regular program reporting, documentation of evidence through center and classroom portfolios and visits by assessors to ensure required standards are met. The Early Childhood Center works hard to earn state licensing renewal every two years and NAEYC accreditation renewal every five years. We are proud to be among a select few centers in our area to be recognized for excellence in early childhood education by NAEYC.
The NAEYC website is a great resource for Early Childhood information.
