Wee Care and BPS Early Childhood Center Programs

Wee Care and the BPS Early Childhood Center offer play-based programs that follow the HighScope Curriculum.

Children’s interests and choices are at the heart of all HighScope programs. We believe children learn best through child-initiated learning, an approach that encourages active involvement, hands-on experiences, and exploration through play.

The curriculum aligns with the Early Childhood Standards of Quality and provides a strong foundation for school readiness. It focuses on supporting growth in:

  • Cognitive development
  • Physical development
  • Social-emotional development
  • Creative development

Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) –    Pre-K for All

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s free, grant-funded initiative for eligible four-year-old children.  Ranked #1 in the U.S., it’s a safe place where children learn how to get along with others, share, take turns, and make friends. Math, reading, and thinking skills are taught every day through fun, hands-on activities. GSRP will help make sure your child is ready for kindergarten and beyond.

BPS offers GSRP classrooms at all eight elementary schools and the Early Childhood Center.
