Kindergarten Roundup Sessions

Your student is eligible for junior kindergarten or kindergarten. Families may choose either program depending on readiness and JK space availability.

Making a Choice 

When deciding, families should:

• Consult their current preschool teacher
• Consider their child’s social and fine motor development
• Consider the desired academic environment:
• Pre-K- More time with early learning standards
• Junior Kindergarten- More play-based academically focused experience
• Kindergarten- More academically rigorous yet developmentally appropriate experience
• Consider the environment that best serves their child & family needs

Your student is eligible for junior kindergarten or a waiver may be requested for kindergarten enrollment. 

As per Michigan Law (Revised School Code MCL 380.1147), students must now be 5 years old by Sept. 1 to be eligible for enrollment in Kindergarten.  

For the school year, if a child is not automatically eligible for enrollment because s/he was born after Sept. 1, but on/before Dec. 1, the child’s parent or legal guardian can submit a waiver to enroll the child in kindergarten.

Your student is not eligible for kindergarten or junior kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year. We encourage you to consider our Preschool options, where a safe, age-appropriate, engaging environment, children learn and explore as they experience their world. Our play-based programs encourage the development of each child's unique potential.
