What if...

In my work I embodied the feelings of anxiety and suspense that take place with the mental health of a high school student. But with fear comes the sliver of hope that can completely change your situation. Mental health issues are sometimes looked at like a joke, but it becomes serious when thoughts turn to actions. This dance shows how if one miniscule detail is altered, then your result can be completely changed. In many scenarios, there are so many ways that everything could go wrong, but they don't. I believe this is destiny.

A Million Dreams

I am hopeful because ... Dance helps me express myself, my emotions, and learn to put in the hard work and effort. Dance teaches me that nothing is perfect. Practice makes progress. I chose A Million Dreams because dreams create hope. You can have as many dreams as you want. Have faith in yourself think positive thoughts every day and have a million dreams. The world is hopeful and it always will be if you think of it that way. Put in the effort and yours can come true. Dance inspires me and I am hopeful. Why are you hopeful?

On the Edge of Great

I have choreographed an aerial performance on the Lyra to the song “Edge of Great” by Julie and the Phantoms. I chose this song because I believe it carries a message of hope. The song is about believing in the future and that our challenges are just stops along our journey. I am a dancer and an aerial acrobatics performer. Performing has helped me overcome anxiety. It is my creative outlet and when I perform I feel like I can overcome anything.

A Race Car Dream

I am hopeful because I can be whatever I want when I grow up. I want to be a race car driver, I also want to be a construction worker and a jockey player. However I know if I work hard I can do it all because I’m strong, hardworking and determined.

A Dream About Going to the Olympics

I’m hopeful because I can be in the Olympics one day. Gymnastics is my dream and I love it so much. I train for about 11 hours each week and even when I’m not at the gym, I’m always tumbling and doing gymnastics moves at home. That is what I love to do. I hope that with my dedication and focus I can compete gymnastics in the Olympics one day.

Hope As Sweet As Apple Pie

I feel hopeful because... Hope is everywhere. It can be found in the ordinary things and anywhere you look for it. And best of all, it can be spread and shared, which, if you think about it, is quite magical itself. I wrote my short story about a magical apple pie because it's a simple thing that can lift somebody up who is feeling down in a positive way. Hope is about the small things in life that can do some thing to make you feel good.

The Necessity to Create

I started drawing and painting as a way to stay focused and express myself. Over the years, it has become a necessary part of my life providing an outlet for my creativity. As I transition from a high school student, I am hopeful that I can pursue art as first a college student and eventually a career.

Living in Harmony

My artwork is a sequence of 845 photos combining into a stop motion video. I used clay as my medium to create the characters and the setting of my video. It is a story of friendship and living in harmony with nature. I think that our world is currently heading in the wrong direction. There are a lot of problems including human conflict, environmental problems, and climate change. Although it may seem impossible, I am hopeful for our future world when people live in harmony with each other and with nature.

American Sign Language (ASL)

I am hopeful because I know everyone is special, and there are people who take time to learn to communicate through sign language and other ways to speak to each other and I believe my sister will have lots of people like that in her life.

Clouds

Hope is a belief in resilience, that one's strength may outweigh or outlast ones troubles. To me, music is the strength that allows me to succeed over obstacles. "Clouds" is a celebration of the indomitable human spirit, a musical testament to the power of hope. The piano's eloquent expression becomes a metaphor for the unwavering belief that, like clouds passing through the sky, challenges are temporary.

You are the World

I made this song for my Mom. It shows how I am hopeful because I know she will always be there for me. My sister also sings backup vocals. Our Mom encourages us to be kind, loving, and hopeful, and for that we are grateful!
