    What are these days for?

The BCS Office staff and PTA volunteers are ready to welcome BCS families back to school with face-to-face interactions and wonderful opportunities! We love to reconnect with members of the school community and are thrilled to provide parents and guardians with the opportunity to attend to numerous administrative tasks that come with a new school year. This will help to make the transition back to school smoother.

We will have plenty of computers available during these times, if you need one to complete Back to School items.

We mailed you some essential letters that we really want you to read:

What other important information should I read or do?

Please look at the items listed below - some require action and some provide useful information.

    • VOLUNTEER- open the link to complete the google doc and become an active volunteer in the BCS community: Bit.ly/VolunteerBCS
    • BAGELS ARE BACK – flyer to purchase Tuesday morning bagels for the school year for $40 per student
    • KAISER STUDIO – school picture day is Thursday, September 19. Orders can be placed online now at kaiserstudio.com with code BCS2019. Paper picture order forms will be given to students on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
    • YEARBOOK – Order a yearbook from our new yearbook company, Walsworth at yearbookforever.com. The cost has been dropped to $28, until November 1.
    • BIRMINGHAM EDUCATION FOUNDATION (BEF) – return this form if you would like to support the BEF through a financial donation or by volunteering. The BEF provides grants to classroom teachers and other staff throughout the distric This opportunity was also available during the online student registration process.

What other opportunities at WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL @ BCS days:

    • Greet one of the BCS administrators – Morawski and/or Mr. Hill will be present.
    • Obtain student’s locker assignment and combination. Students can practice the combo and set-up their locker. This allows for working out any problems in advance and can truly avoid frustration.
    • Find student choice hour schedules posted in the 300 Hall. Avoids confusion on the first day of choice hour.
    • Medication Round-Up - drop off student medications and turn in medication paperwork. Our goal is to have ALL MEDICATIONS COLLECTED BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS (link to documents) so we can focus on students and not paperwork. Talk to staff member Sonya Whitted, who now oversees medications at BCS and get your questions answered.
    • Update your BCS Directory information and turn in your PTA Clearinghouse Back-to-School Receipt form, unless you’ve already completed these online. The PTA sent you a link in early August. See below for paper form link.
    • Interested in getting involved? Fill out the PTA BCS Volunteer Form and turn it in.
    • Purchase and take home an academic planner for $5.00 for your child in 7th or 8th grade. Quantities are limited and it’s first come, first served. All students in grades 3-6 will automatically receive a planner on the first day of school in their academic lab class. The PTA Back-To-School Receipt allows for the $5.00 payment for 3rd-6th grade planners.
    • Pick up your pre-ordered school supply kits. If you purchased a school supply kit in the spring from 1st Day School Supplies, it is ready for you to pick up during these times.
    • Stop at the PTA table and purchase a BCS car decal for $5.00.
    • Turn in completed Bagel Forms and payment – print, complete, return.
    • Visit the Spirit Wear table!
    • Meet Chartwells staff and deposit money into student lunch accounts with check or cash. Learn about nutrition and school lunches.
    • Turn in completed BPS Pre-Participation Physical form. This only applies to students in Ski Club or 4th- 8th graders doing intramural or interscholastic sports.

Please note that student schedules will be given to each student on the first day during their first class, which is academic lab.
