Future Falcon Fair

Class of 2025 Families,

I hope you are having a relaxing summer; we are very excited to welcome you to the Falcon Family!

Please know that we understand that transitioning to high school is not easy, and we are here to support you and your students however necessary. Mr. Wilcox is the assistant principal who will work with you and your student throughout your four years at Groves; a letter from him is attached to this email.

I hope you received your "save the date" postcard for August 18th for our Future Falcons Fair; the goal for this event is "one stop shopping" for both students and families to hear important information from staff, as well as to complete back-to-school items such as those involved with student registration. This event encompasses all of what a 9th grade registration day would, as again, we are trying to make it easier on families.

Here is the agenda for this event:

All incoming 9th graders are to report to campus at 3:30 on August 18th. From 3:30 - 5:30, our Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring group has activities planned for our students including team building and get to know you events, as well as opportunities to learn more about Groves from our upperclassmen. During this time, 9th graders will also have their school pictures taken for their ID cards and the yearbookInformation about ordering school pictures is attached to this email.

At 5:30, we are asking parents of 9th graders to join us for a barbecue in the stadium (or indoors if inclement weather). From 5:30-6:30, we will provide dinner, information about our athletic programs and our bond construction projects, as well as an opportunity for parents to connect with one of our many district-wide and Groves family network groups. Students will re-connect with their families at 5:30 for this part of the event.

Then, from 6:30-8:00, students and parents will attend information sessions separately. We will rotate both students and parents in groups by last name through three different sessions. Students will connect with counselors, receive their schedules/tour the building, and attend our Activity Fair to learn more about ways to get involved at Groves. Parents will attend three sessions with counselors and department chairs, administration and will complete registration items for your student such as pay for all optional fees.

At 8:00, as students and families exit, we will have first term textbooks prepared for you to pick up.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions or help with your student's transition to Groves in any way.

*** Also, please save the date for the 9th Grade Canoe Trip - August 20th - Details about sign-up and payment to follow.

Thank you,

Dr. Smith
