Note from the Principal
Dear Bingham families,
Our March is reading month activities have continued. We began our week with a visit from Phillip Stead, an author and illustrator. The students learned about the many techniques artists use to illustrate books. Many were surprised that it takes as long as 18 months to illustrate one children’s book. Our reader dog at Monday lunch was again well attended, our students love to cuddle up and read with the therapy dogs. We do have one more day with both dogs next week as well. Cyndi Settecerri was the guest at our PTA meeting on Tuesday night to talk about the components of the 3rd grade reading law and the interventions and strategies we have at Bingham for our students who are not at grade level. We also shared an article on the effects of screen time on young children’s minds, a fascinating read. On Thursday, we hosted more than 80 students and their VIP’s to eat breakfast and begin the day with shared reading time.
Our Spring conferences are next week, an important event we look forward to each spring to collaborate together about our children and their progress, we hope to see everyone. Our book fair will be set up for conferences next week, while you are here, stop in to see some of the great books we have available.
