Help us reduce dependence on one-use plastic items.
However, we do realize that old habits are hard to break, and if you have a stash of plastic bags, please consider sending any that you have that are CLEAN and DRY in to Berkshire.
The Motor City Mitten Mission repurposes plastic shopping bags to make sleeping mats for the homeless in Detroit. This is a time-consuming process, but one way to help them in their mission would be to supply these knitting ladies with some plarn.
DRAW (Disaster Relief at Work) has also started making sleeping mats for those displaced during natural disasters.
Send in your clean, dry, plastic shopping bags and we will get some kids working on making plarn during their rec or C3 periods. (Send to office, c/o Pam Lucken.)
